Chairmans Chatter

Another seasons draws to a close and in clubs throughout the league there will be the few souls who have made sure that their respective teams have a venue to play in and fixtures for teams to play. Any idea who does all this and when?

If you don’t you are not alone. A lot of players have no idea how the club is structured or the many thankless tasks that have to be done for their club to function. More importantly, many players out there will always be too busy to assist with running their club successfully.

The League is run by a Committee of volunteers who make sure that the league is run according to the League Rules and where there is a problem resolve the issue during the season at the regular Committee meetings. There are a number of posts attached to this all voluntary and without them there is no league just like you wouldn’t have a club if no one volunteered to run it.

So, without the few there will be no Badminton next year. I would suggest that the not so many try to help the few before your Badminton Club disappears. That is if you have the time?

Are you aware that if you are a nominated player you need to play 50% of your teams fixtures?

It is important that your club keeps track of this one way or another or you may find your team loses a point for each player that fails to meet the 50% quota unless the registration secretary has been informed as to the reason why, such as moving away or an accident etc.

So far this year the registration secretary has informed clubs that certain players will not meet the 50% quota even though it is not one of his tasks. This falls on the club yet it would not be to0 difficult for a team captain or the player to keep track of games to prevent this.

Next Season there will be no reminders.

Proposals

The proposals for the AGM will be arriving through your letterboxes. This year most of the proposals have been put forward to close some of the loopholes in the rules whereby some third division players find they are playing against first team players.

This years AGM will be held  on Wednesday 18th May at Elmore Row Bloxwich.

Also we have the usual problem of nominated players and fixtures. Some second teams have played almost fifty percent of their fixtures. The first team may have played a couple a games or none. Not a problem really, until you find first team players filling in then playing up for the rest of the season.

Enjoy your Badminton while you can.
